Our Poly Life

Our life as a polyamorous quad

The Journey of an Intentional Family September 10, 2007

WhitMoore @ 6:57 pm

This site is dedicated to the journey of our clan in the growing world of poly based intentional family.  Ours is a committed and cohabitating partially closeted poly-fi cross coupled quad. (How’s that from people who don’t like labels?) Together we have ten children (each couple has five) that range in age between 2 and 19; six girls, four boys – nine of which are still at home.

In the spirit of a true blended family, the little darlings will not be identified with their biological parents, as we are now fully incorporated and working hard to  extinguish the “mine and yours” lines that naturally occur with young and immature minds.  As you read our blogs you will see the following “acronyms” which help to maintain the anonymity of our kids.  The girls will be referred to as “LM” (Little Miss) with a number in parenthesis attached representing her age.  In the same manner, “YM” (Young Man) with age attachment will be how we represent our sons.

**(as of September ‘08′ we will be referring to the kids by their new “blog” names.. check out  the “Meet the Kids”  page to get to know them)

When we began our site lin April of 2005, we did so with the intention of reaching out to others from whom we could acquire understanding, advice, and inspiration.

As our stories will affirm, we fell into polyamory quite by surprise, and had no resources from which to draw.We went searching, then researching, finally deciding to put ourselves into cyberspace with the hope of encountering others like us.  Since then, we have added a blog, two separate forums, one for poly adults and one for teen children of poly families, we have become contributing writers at Poly Percolations (archives are now on our blog in the side bar) and have met many wonderful poly friends both online and through our local poly group PolySouthEast . Perhaps in our attempt to record our journey we can be of help to some, or at the very least, give comic relief to others. And of course, we’d relish feedback from those who have gone before us.

No one has a perfect marriage, but ours are committed and resilient; lasting eighteen years each.  The four of us have had many ups and downs along the way to life long partnerships, but the relationships have endured and grown.  From this experience, we garnered wisdom and confidence; we consider ourselves survivors.  Together we are positive the love and support we have for each other will weather uncertain times that lay ahead of us.

We write openly and honestly  and our blog contains our opinions as the writers concerning our poly journey. We invite you to read, to leave comments or feedback, however… This is OUR blog. It is full of OUR opinions. They are OURS. We own them. We will not apologize for them.

Once again, welcome to our site.  We’re glad you are here; come on in and look around.  We’re certain there will be lots of love, learning and laughter ahead!
